TGIF! Today is unfortunately going to be the last day the group and I will be working with the Jose Quinones High School.
After classes finished and I got another solid day of learning in, we were off to Jose Quinones! Today was a little bit of a different type of day, ,mainly because the activities today were different. Normally, we teach, we converse, and we get to know each other. But, today the students of JQ were going to put on a performance as a fair well to the Northeastern students. The show was really fun! We got to watch the students perform some of the traditional dances and music of Peru! Then, hallways through the end of the dances, a few of the girls ran down from the stage and grabbed guys to go up and dance with them. Of course, Nate and I were amongst those guys. So after dancing on stage in front of everyone in a very impromptu fashion, the show finished and we were given gifts. In the bag, was a shirt and a hat that were both red that said 'Peru'. I really enjoyed the hat.
At night, Elan, Luke, and I went out to Calle Berlin where all the relaxing restaurants and bars are and got to have some drinks with native Peruvian women.

Today we will be going to Caral! The most ancient culture in the history of South America.
In Caral, we got to view all the ancient ruins from this historic culture. It was quite amazing to think that in this area there was once a city where a river ran through. Once the river dried up, clearly live in this area was inevitable. Although, interestingly enough, the drying up of the river didn't cause the native people of Caral to move out of this land. What happened was that the river filled with so much rain that it flooded the whole area destroying the entire city.

After we left Caral everyone got to go out to lunch together, and then once back in Miraflores, we were all going to a club together. Tonight we were all going to 'Pena Del Carajo' and were very excited for the music we were going to hear. Of course, during the intermission show, the man who was conducting the show called out stating, "I want everyone who is from a different country on stage". Myself, Nate, Elan, and a few of the others went on stage and found out later that we had to dance. I was so mad at Monica for pushing me out on stage. Now, I knew I had to dance by myself in front of the whole club. Ugh. After saying I was from Poland and doing a Polish dance, my embarrassment was over and I was given a liter of Cristal Beer. Overall if was a great experience! We even got hats for showing our moves out on the dance floor.

Nate and Elan |
Today was my first off day. I spent it relaxing in the morning and then going to play soccer along the beach on the futsal courts with some of the locals. After soccer, Elan, Nate, and I went surfing and had a blast! I only got up a few times but couldn't believe how amazing standing on the board and cruising through that water is! What an amazing experience.
